اعضای خانواده و اقوام

 

حتما به ذهن شما هم خطور کرده که ببینید “پدر زن شوهر عموی عمه ی خاله بزرگ جان مادر بزرگ مادری” تون به زبان انگلیسی چی میشه! خب پس با ما همراه باشید.همین اول کار بگم که در فرهنگ اونور آب، مثل ما ایرانی‌ها اینقدر فک و فامیل مهم نیست، به همین خاطر ممکنه واسه چند معنی متفاوت تو فارسی تنها با یه کلمه مواجه بشین.مثلا در فارسی عمو و دایی دو شخصیت کاملا مجزا و منفک از هم هستند که به هیچ وجه قابل قاطی شدن با هم نیستن، اما تو انگلیسی فقط کلمه ی معادل uncle رو واسه این دو داریم. یا مشابه‌های دیگر.

برای اجتناب از طولانی شدن بیش از حد این مطلب فقط به درج عنوان و معادل فارسی آن در جدول بسنده شده است.

Alliterative expressions are pairs of words in which the second member of the pairs is repetition of the first except for a difference in one sound.You have heard many alliterative expressions in Farsi such as: شلوغ پلوغ, کتاب متاب, چاخان پاخان

An obvious function of these expressions is that they make speech less formal and more friendly .Now look at these alliterative expressions in English.

1. Wish wash:

He is such a wish washy person that cannot make a decision.

2. Mish mash:

My room is kind a mish mash room that you can find everything you want.

3. Chit chat:

What did you talk about? “Oh just chit chat.

4. Ship shape:

Let’s get this house ship shape.

5. Zig zag:

The children ran in zig zag around the park.

6. Shilly shally

Stop shilly shallying and make decision now.

7. Dilly dally

Don’t dilly dally just gets your things and let’s go.

8. Tick tock:

I can hear the tick tock, but I can’t find my watch.

9. Clip clop:

A tongue twister is a sequence of words that is difficult to pronounce quickly.The hardest tongue-twister in the English language is supposedly:- The sixth sick sheikh's sixth sheep's sick

Don't feel bad if you have difficulty in saying some of the tongue-twisters below, even native English speakers find them difficult.

  1. A noisy noise annoys an oyster.
