Glass of Milk

 One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.

He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.
Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water! . She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it so slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you?"
You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness."
He said ... "Then I thank you from my heart."
As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.
Many years later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.
Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.
Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to her case.After a long struggle, the battle was won.
Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, and then wrote something on the edge, and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She read these words ...
"Paid in full with one glass of milk"

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You,God, that Your love has spread broad through human hearts and hands."
There's a saying which goes something like this: Bread cast on the water comes back to you. The good deed you do today may benefit you or someone you love at the least expected time.  If you never see the deed again at least you will have made the world a better place - And, after all, isn't that what life is all about?
The hardest thing to learn in life is which bridge to cross and which -- To burn .

English is a crazy Language

انگليسي ، زبانی آشفته است

        در طول تاريخ کره ي زمين ، زبان انگليسي زباني است که بيشتر از هر زبان ديگري ترويج شده است طوري که از هر هفت نفر دست کم يکي به اين زبان صحبت مي نمايد. نيمي از کتاب هاي دنيا به اين زبان است و اکثر مکالمات بين المللي به اين زبان انجام مي شود. زبان انگليسي ، زبان بيش از 60 درصد برنامه هاي راديوئي دنيا است.

          بيش از 70 درصد مکاتبات بين المللي به اين زبان انجام مي شود و 80 درصد متن هاي رايانه ها را به اين زبان ذخيره مي کنند. اين زبان بيشترين کلمه يا واژه ، عددي رقم دو ميليون ، را نسبت به هر زبان ديگري دارد وفاخرترين نمونه هاي ادبيات را به بشريت تقديم نموده است.

          با اين وجود، اکنون وقت آن است که با اين حقيقت مواجه شويم که زبان انگليسي زباني شير تو شير است- زباني پر پيچ ، .....در اين زبان شير توشير ،    the blackbird hen  (توکا قهوه اي رنگ است به جاي اين که سياه رنگ باشد.)

 blackboards ( تخته سياه ممکن است سبز يا آبي هم باشد)، 
 (blackberries ،توت به رنگ سياه black نيست بلکه سبز رنگ است و بعداً قرمز مي شوند پيش از آن که برسند).

 اگر blackberries واقعاً به همان رنگ سياه black بود و blueberries هم به رنگ آبيblue بود ، بنابر اين تصور مي کنيد ترکيباتي که با berries ساخته مي شوند بايد به چه شکلي باشند؟   

ترکيباتي مثل :

 

Strawberries( آيا توت هايي مثل ني Straw هستند؟ ) در حالي که توت فرنگي و به رنگ قرمزند.

Cranberries ( آيا توت هايي مثل cran هستند ؟) در حالي که رنگ قرمز مايل به زرد هستند.

Elderberries ( آيا توت هايي بزرگ و ارشد و مسن هستند ؟! ) در حالي که ( در گياه شناسي) نوعي بوته يا درخت از جنس اقطي داراي خوشه هاي بزرگي از گل هاي سفيد يا زرد کوچک و ميوه ي سفيد يا قرمز شبيه توت مي باشد.

Huckleberries( آيا توت هايي مثل hip هستند ؟) نه! زغال اخته اند.

Raspberries( آيا توت هايي مثلRasp سوهان هستند ؟ نه ! بلکه تمشک اند.

Gooseberries( آيا توت هايي مثلGoose هستند ؟ نه ! بلکه انگور فرنگي يا در گياه شناسي سفرس هستند.

در اين آشفتگي ، به کلمه هاي ديگري نيز توجه کنيد:

در buttermilk ( آب دوغ) هيچ butter وجود ندارد.

در eggplant ( بادمجان) egg ( تخم مرغ) وجود ندارد.

در shortbread( کلوچه ي ترد) هيچ bread (نان)وجود ندارد.

در wormwood( کرم چوب) نه worms و نه wood هيچ کدام وجود ندارند.

در mushroom ( قارچ) نه mush و نه room هيچ کدام وجود ندارند.

در pineapple ( آناناس) نه pine و نه apple هيچ کدام وجود ندارند.

در peanuts ( بادام زميني) نه peas ونه nuts هيچ کدام وجود ندارند.

در hamburger هيچ ham وجود ندارد.

از اين ها بدتر، English muffins (نوعي شيريني) در England ساخته نمي شوند و French fries در فرانسه، Danish pastries ( شيريني هاي دانمارکي) دردانمارک. اين شير تو شير بودن تا آن جا پيش مي رود که sweetmeat( شيريني جات يا حلويات) از ميوه درست مي شود ولي Sweetbread (تيموس حيوانات جوان محتوي ماده ي غذايي) که شيرين هم نيست از گوشت ساخته مي شود.  

Easy rules

Easy is to set rules.
Difficult is to follow them...

تنظیم قوانین آسان است .ولی رعایت آنها مشکل است

Easy is to dream every night.
Difficult is to fight for a dream...

خوابیدن در هر شب آسان است ولی مبارزه با آن مشکل است.

Easy is to show victory.
Difficult is to assume defeat with dignity...

نشان دادن یپروزی آسان است.با وقار پذیرای شکست شدن مشکل است.

Easy is to admire a full moon.
Difficult to see the other side...

حظ کردن از یک ماه کامل آسان است .ولی دیدن طرف دیگر آن مشکل است.

Easy is to stumble with a stone.
Difficult is to get up...

زمین خوردن با یک سنگ آسان است .ولی بلند شدن مشکل است.

 

Thanks for God

خداراشكر كه تمام شب صداي خرخر شوهرم را مي شنوم . اين يعني او زنده و سالم در كنار من خوابيده است.

I am thankful for the husband who snores all night, because that means he is healthy and alive at home asleep with me

خدا را شكر كه دختر نوجوانم هميشه از شستن ظرفها شاكي است.اين يعني او در خانه است و در خيابانها پرسه نمي زند.

I am thankful for my teenage daughter who is complaining about doing dishes, because that means she is at home not on the street

خدا را شكر كه ماليات مي پردازم اين يعني شغل و در آمدي دارم و بيكار نيستم.

I am thankful for the taxes that I pay, because it means that I am employed.

خدا را شكر كه لباسهايم كمي برايم تنگ شده اند. اين يعني غذاي كافي براي خوردن دارم.

I am thankful for the clothes that a fit a little too snag, because it means I have enough to eat

I am thankful for weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, because it means I have been capable of working hard
